If you are a Linux user and want to upload your picture, your friend’s picture etc. on Facebook, but you do not find any easier method to upload than the usual, then I think this post will be a great post for you. The general photo uploading system in the Facebook is very boring and time consuming. But you have an alternative. In the Nautilus file manager, right click on a file and select it to upload into Facebook. But this feature is not built-in into your file manager. So you need to add it. Do not need to worry, because it is very easy. Just follow the process described below.
Requirements
1. A working installation for Linux and a GNOME desktop. Here I am using Ubuntu 10.10 version of Linux OS.
2. A Facebook account.
3. A file to be downloaded from this page.
Installation
1. Unpack the file named “Facebook_XXX.targ.gz” file. Here XXX is the release number. Right click on Nautilus and select “Extract Here”.
2. Move into the folder which is newly created.
3. Double click on the file named “install.sh” and after that select “Run in Terminal”.
4. When it is prompt, then enter your sudo password and wait for the completion of installation.
Process of First upload
1. To upload a picture or photo into your Facebook account, just right click on the photo and select “Scrpts>Upload to Facebook”.
2. When you are going your first photo into the Nautilus from Facebook then you need to authenticate the Facebook account. This will be done by a window which will tell you to paste a particular URL into the text area.
3. When you will click on the Allow button then the URL will be opened into a browser.
4. When you will paste the URL into the window which is shown in Fig.1 then just click OK.
5. Then click on Refresh button and you will be needed to enter your Facebook username.
6. After completing this all your albums will be shown as a list and in this stage, you are ready to upload the photo. Using this manager, you can also create new albums here.
Uploading
After all setup is completed, you need to upload photo. It is simple.
1. Open Nautilus into the directory which contains photos to be uploaded.
2. Right click on the photo and select “Scripts>Upload to Facebook”.
3. After opening FUploader, click on the Refresh button.
4. Select specific album into which you want to add these photos.
5. Click on upload button and then close the manager.
You can also select multiple photos in this method holding the Ctrl button and selecting photos one by one. There rest processes are the same.
